Configuring and using the BlueMind thick client

BlueMind 5.4 provides Windows-based users with a new client software, enabling them to use BlueMind applications independently of their browser.

Beta version

The BlueMind thick client is currently still in beta version, and its lifecycle and upgrades have not yet been finalized. Its management is still manual, and will be optimized and simplified by future versions.

Prerequisites

Server

The BlueMind server must be ready to accept connections from the client software, and in particular the MAPI autodiscover must be functional: Configuring external URLs and autodiscover. NB: in this case, the "Outlook Synchronization" role is not required for users.

Connectivity test

If communication problems persist, you can use Microsoft's online diagnostic tool to ensure that the server is correctly configured and reachable: https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/exchange and, more specifically, the "Outlook connectivity" test: https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/Ola/input.

User station

  • The user workstation must be running Windows 10 or 11, up to date with the latest available upgrades.
  • The autodiscover address (see above) must be reachable from the workstation browser.
  • The framework .NET 8.0 or later must be installed to run the BlueMind thick client.

Install thick client

  • Download the installation file from the following address: BlueMindClient.msi.
  • Start client software installation by double-clicking on the downloaded file.

Update the thick client

Upgrading the client workstation software is not yet automated, it must be done manually on the user's workstation.
It is however important to upgrade regularly in order to benefit from the latest patches.

To update the software, proceed as for installation (see above):

  • Download the latest version
  • Launch the installer
Software version / BlueMind version

The upgrade of the thick client concerns it and it alone, the version of BlueMind presented remains that of the server. To update BlueMind to a more recent version, please refer to the administrator documentation: Updating BlueMind.

Conversely, upgrading the server does not upgrade the software installed** on client workstations.

Connecting your BlueMind account

Once installation is complete, the software opens and displays the BlueMind connection screen:

To log in:

  • Enter your username (the user's default mail address)
  • Enter your password
  • Check "Remember me" if desired
  • Click on "Connect"

The window opens, presenting the BlueMind application:

Using BlueMind
