External URL Configuration

External URLs are the web addresses through which the user accesses the BlueMind server and its mail domains.

Setting up external URLs

The configuration of a global external URL, valid for the entire system, is mandatory. To configure it, see System configuration > Configuring the proxy server.

In the case of a shared system, i.e. with a Multi-domain messaging, it is possible to add external URLs for each domain: see the < General configuration of the domain.

As long as domains authenticate via Bluemind's OpenID service, the global address must be accessible to them, even in the case of multi-domain domains.

Modifying external URLs

Sensitive operation!

Changing the external URL of an existing production server has several consequences for users.

Change of connection address

The address users use to access BlueMind obviously changes. This not only impacts their browser-based access but also thick client access. Setting up Thick Clients must therefore be modified.

Browser error message

When you change an external URL, your browser will display a certificate error message when you log into BlueMind.

The certificate for this new external url must be changed and configured: the external URL no longer corresponds to the certificate's CN. You need to get a new certificate with the new external URL as CN and update the SSL certificate.

Previously-generated links (linked attachments or videoconferences, in particular) may not be accessible or may generate alerts (certificates).

BlueMind Video links, need to be updated for all future meetings. You need to go edit these events to generate the link's URL again.

note

This cannot be done automatically as the event also has to be modified in other participants' external third-parties' messages. The event has to be updated manually.

Kerberos' authentication problems

Changing the external URL requires re-configuring the Kerberos SSO, notably by generating a new keytab file and modifying the configuration of client browsers. For further information, see Setting up SSO Kerberos.
