Synchronizing Mailboxes

Synchronizing a shared mailbox allows you to easily access and use it through other clients, such as Thunderbird, Outlook, Mac OS, iOS, Android, or Windows Phone.

Viewing a synchronized shared mailbox

The differences between a synchronized shared mailbox and a non-synchronized shared mailbox are summarized below. Under certain conditions, it may be possible to consult a shared mailbox even if it is not synchronized.

✅ The shared mailbox and all of its items are copied to the thick client or mobile client

✅ Changes are automatically reflected in the BlueMind mail app and in the thick client or mobile client app—provided you are in online mode
✅ The shared mailbox can be viewed in the thick client or mobile client app, both online and offline

:::info Data volume warning

When the volume of data contained in a mailbox is large, a message warns of possible synchronization problems.

:::

Please note that some differences may appear depending on the synchronization protocol and the client:

  • MAPI synchronization (Outlook): a shared mailbox can be accessed with Outlook MAPI even when synchronization is disabled.

For more information on the features and compatible applications for each client, consult the Compatibility page.

Activating synchronization

Mailbox synchronization is done in the messaging settings, by going to Preferences - Messaging - Other mailboxes.
