Event disappearances and modifications

Actions carried out on calendar events (creation, modification, deletion) are logged on the server in the /var/log/bm/audit directory, in folders each corresponding to a calendar.

File names have the following format audit-<calendar uid>@domain.log

E.g., the file for user John Doe's calendar on our demo server is called: audit-calendar:Default:9E3C96CA-2E46-41A9-9E88-D774F9DFBBA5@bluemind.loc.log

File names in the directory can have different formats. E.g.:

This is because:

  • The "calendar:" string is included in users' and resources' default calendar uids

  • The "Default:" string is included in the users' default calendar uids

As a result, the file name shows:

  • audit-XYZ123: a secondary user or domain calendar
  • audit-**calendar:**XYZ123: a resource calendar
  • audit-**calendar:Default:**XYZ123: a default user calendar

Note: UIDs such as calendar_calendar_57 or calendar:Default:user_entity_156492 are UIDs of entities migrated from BlueMind 3.0 (in this case, a domain calendar and a user, respectively).

Decoding a simple event log line​

The bm-cli command line interface can help you filter and view log contents more clearly. See the dedicated documentation or the tool's online help for more information on how to use it and its available options:

To find information on an event, you can use the "grep" command on their title (whole or in part) rather than browsing the user's file

E.g., you can search for information about user John Doe's "Réunion commerce" event:

The key information in these lines is:

  • 2018-02-13 10:55:27,347 : la date à laquelle l'action a été effectuée
    Attention : il s'agit ici de l'heure GMT, il peut donc y avoir un décalage avec l'heure réelle à laquelle l'action a été réalisée selon le fuseau horaire. Since the event logged here took place in France during daylight saving time, it was actually recorded at 11:55 a.m.

  • origin : la provenance de l'action
    Dans notre exemple bm-hps indique une connexion hps, soit une connexion via webmail ou connecteur Thunderbird

  • actor: the UID of the user who performed the action In our example:

  • action: the action performed In our example:

    • 1st line: action:create: creation of the event
    • 2nd line: action:delete: deletion of the event

Information about the event itself:

  • dtstart and dtend are used to specify the start and end times of the event. In this example:
    • dtstart: 2018-02-15T14:00:00.000+01:00: 15/02/2018 at 3pm, GMT+1 time in the Europe/Paris timezone
    • dtend: 2018-02-15T15:00:00.000+01:00: 15/02/2018 at 3pm
  • summary: the event's title. In this example:
    • "summary":"Réunion commerce": the event's title is "Réunion commerce"
  • "attendees":[]: There are no attendees here; if the event has attendees, the list of attendees is enclosed in square brackets (see the meeting logs below)
  • "organizer": null: Here, no organizer is specified; this is simply an event on the organizer's own calendar (see the meeting logs below)
  • object:calendar allows you to check the relevant calendar; its information is enclosed in parentheses. In this example, it includes:
    • the calendar's ID (same name as the log file)
    • name: the user's username: John Doe
    • owner: the user's UID: 9E3C96CA-2E46-41A9-9E88-D774F9DFBBA5

Meeting logs​

Take for example, a meeting whose life cycle you want to look at:

  • attendees: lists the guests (in square brackets); each guest is listed in curly brackets. For each of them, you can see:
    • commonName: the name (John Smith and client@somewhere.loc; this second guest is not one of your contacts)
    • dir: null if the guest is not a user in the domain; otherwise, it contains the guest's UID
    • mailTo: the guest's email address
    • uri: null if the guest is not part of the domain; otherwise, their "address" is found in the BlueMind directory, including their uid
  • organizer: allows you to find the meeting organizer; the section in curly braces is similar to the guests' information and contains the same data, including commonName, dir, mailTo, and uri
  • object:calendar: Just as with a single event, this allows you to verify the information for the relevant calendar
