Administrator applications

Installation Wizard

The Installation Wizard (IW) application allows you to complete the Installing BlueMind on a new server using a graphical interface. The application configures all system components and all BlueMind settings, thereby ensuring a complete, consistent and high-performance installation of BlueMind.

info

The Installation Wizard does not allow you to perform an upgrade on a BlueMind system. Only the Setup Wizard allows you to do this (see below).

Setup Wizard

The Setup Wizard (SW) application is a setup wizard and Updating BlueMind assistant.

Provided as part of the BlueMind subscription, the Setup Wizard application, in addition to performing the same actions as the Installation Wizard application, allows you to update an existing BlueMind installation, including in a distributed environment and when upgrading to a new major version.

Server components

Core

The Core server component is BlueMind’s main web service. It enables you to manage:

  • business logic
  • Database access
  • BlueMind API calls

Application Server

All web interfaces intended for end users run on a bm-webserver webserver. The hosted applications are:

  • the calendar
  • Contact management
  • the administration console
  • Settings management
  • The Installation Wizard and the Setup Wizard

SMTP & IMAP

BlueMind supports standard mail protocols:

  • SMTP via postfix
  • IMAP and POP via BlueMind

MAPI

BlueMind supports the MAPI protocol, enabling the use of Outlook: users can synchronise their account, access their emails, calendar and contacts, and make use of all the software’s features, meaning they do not need to change their working habits.

For further information, see the following pages:

MQ Server

KeyDB is packaged and fully built-in with BlueMind to facilitate the Exchange of events between BlueMind applications. This component is used for:

  • send notifications regarding calendar events (e.g. events originating from core and monitored by EAS)
  • send notifications regarding events arising from contact management (e.g. events originating from core and monitored by EAS)
  • send notifications regarding delivered emails (events generated by the LMTP daemon and monitored by EAS, for example)
  • send notifications regarding login and logout events

EAS

EAS is a synchronisation server for mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.). It supports the native protocols of these types of devices, thereby enabling the use of the mobile devices’ native applications to synchronise emails, calendars and contacts.

SASL Daemon

This component, named YSNP, is the BlueMind SASL authentication daemon. It performs password validation against the core component and enables smtp/postfix/ldap authentication.

Add-ons

BlueMind can be extended using add-ons(also known as plugins) which are shared by the community on the Marketplace.

To find out more about developing these add-ons, please visit the dedicated page ‘Contribute to BlueMind’.
