Searching in messages
The BlueMind solution features a powerful search mode, enabling multi-criteria and full-text searches (body and attachments) within email content.
Clicking on the search field at the top of the message list expands it, giving access to a direct search or more options:

For efficiency, the number of results displayed is limited up to 500 emails.
If there are more results, we recommend refining your search.
Quick search
To perform a direct search, simply type in the term you’re looking for and confirm with ‘Enter’ or click the ‘Search’ button:

The search engine then displays the items found in the selected folder and highlights the search term in the displayed email and in the list of emails.
The selected folder is the folder in which the user is currently located at the time of the search. For example, if the user is in the ‘Sent Messages’ folder of their mailbox, the search will be carried out in that folder and all its subfolders.
When the user is in the inbox of a mailbox, the search is carried out across all folders and subfolders within that mailbox, with the exception of the ‘Drafts’ and ‘Outbox’ folders 1.
To refine or modify the scope of the search, select folder(s) from the drop-down list :

- All folders: the search is carried out across all folders and subfolders in the mailbox currently selected in the tree view – with the exception of the ‘Drafts’ and ‘Outbox’ folders 1
- [Current folder] and its subfolders: the search is performed in the folder currently selected in the tree structure, as well as its subfolders
- [Current folder] only: search only in the folder currently selected in the tree structure
Please note that the search is carried out by mailbox. If you are using shared mailboxes (
Multi-criteria search
To carry out a more detailed search, click the button at the end of the search box to open the full search form:

Search criteria are cumulative: messages meeting all the entered conditions will be retrieved.
Search in
This field lets you specify a personal folder or sub-folder. If you subscribe to shared mailboxes or folders, you can also select the account to be searched.
Contacts
The fields in this section benefit from autocomplete: as you type, the addresses in all the user's address books (personal and shared) are suggested :

To validate a choice, click on it with the mouse or use the keyboard: navigate using the arrows, then validate with enter or the tab key.
To disregard the suggestions and validate the typing as is, click outside the input field.
Messages and attachments
This section lets you search the various content fields of emails, display messages by size, search by category or filter messages with attachments or marked as important.

The categories available are the personal categories of the account specified in the "Search in" field. Domain categories are not selectable.
Date
Date search fields feature a calendar to help you enter data:

You can fill in just one field to search for messages received before or after a given date, or both fields to search for messages from a given period.
To navigate the calendar:
- click on the year to change it using the drop-down list
- use the arrows in the upper right corner to move from one month to another
Resetting view
At any time, use the cross in the search field or the link in the main display area to quit the search and return to the full message list:

Searching with search operators
Simple search
For advanced users, criteria can be entered directly in the quick search field.
As the list of supported criteria is constantly evolving, it is not possible to provide an exact, up-to-date list.
Terms must be entered in English (see examples below for syntax):
- From: sender
- To: recipient
- With: searches sender, recipient and copy fields
- Subject : Object of the message
- ...
Examples:
from:smith@bluemind.loc: messages received from this addressfrom:smith object:report: messages containing "smith" in the sender and the word "report" in the subject.date:[2023-05-15 TO 2023-06-02]: messages received between 05/15/2023 and 06/06/2023date:[2023-05-09 TO *] subject:confirmation: confirmation messages received after May 9, 2023
When the form is opened, the supported criteria are displayed in the corresponding fields, while other terms are placed in the "Contains" field.
Multi-criteria search
The AND and OR operators can be used in the form and in the quick search field; they obey the following rules:
- The terms and the operator must be placed between parentheses behind the desired criterion:
- subject:(annual AND maintenance) -> CORRECT
- subject:entretien AND annual -> INCORRECT
Here only "maintenance" will be taken into account for the subject search, "annual" will be placed in the "Contains" field (see box above)
- The OR operator applies to a single field only:
- subject:(marketing OR commercial) -> CORRECT
- subject:marketing OR with:smith@bluemind.loc -> INCORRECT
- The AND operator between fields is the default behavior, it is implicit and not necessary:
- from:smith AND subject:confirmation = from:smith subject:confirmation
- In the absence of aoperator, AND is used, in which case the message must satisfy all the criteria:
- subject:(marketing commercial sales) = subject:(marketing AND commercial AND sales) -> the subject must contain the 3 words
In order to optimize overall search performance, the "Drafts" and "Outbox" folders are not indexed and therefore not taken into account by the search engine. As a result, these folders cannot be selected from the folder selection drop-down list.
