Edit the email content

The BlueMind mail app composer makes it easy to create HTML emails with rich text, images, tables and links:

tip

The width of the composer can be adjusted by dragging the divider between the composer and the email list:

Edit text

The formatting button in the action bar at the bottom right of the composer allows you to hide or show all available actions: change the font or colour, highlight text, create lists, remove or replicate formatting, add links and emoticons, etc.

Default visibility

Visibility is saved as a preference: if the bar is hidden by the user, it will be hidden again when composing the next new message.

For quick edits, select the text you want to edit and use the actions that appear automatically:

Setting the default font

Each user can set their preferred default font and font size for composing emails. To do this, go to the mail app settings: Preferences > Mail App > General > Email Composition and select the desired font and size using the drop-down menus:

Additional fonts

Administrators can add a font to the domain via its General configuration to supplement the fonts provided by default by BlueMind. The font will be made available to all users of the domain.

Paste text

It is also possible to paste text, with or without formatting, that has been copied from any type of document (an email, a contact record, a PDF, a text file, etc.).

To paste text with formatting (default option):

  • Move the cursor to the desired position in the body of the email
  • Right-click and select the ‘Paste’ option, or use the keyboard shortcut ctrl V, or cmd V depending on your operating system

To paste text without formatting – that is, plain text without any formatting or hyperlinks:

  • Move the cursor to the desired position in the body of the email

  • Right-click and select the ‘Paste unformatted’ option, or use the keyboard shortcut as shown at the bottom of the composer

💡 The keyboard shortcut adapts automatically to the operating system.

Improve the text

Thanks to BlueMind’s AI Assistant, you can quickly rephrase or correct the text of an email. For further information see the page Using the AI Assistant.

To add a link, select the text and click on to open the pop-up window. Enter the link in the ‘Enter a link’ field. Once created, the link can be edited or deleted by clicking on ‘Unlink’.

It is also possible to add a ‘mailto’ link to an email address: in the ‘Enter a link’ field, use the syntax mailto:exemple@nomdedomaine.loc. Please note that it is also possible to specify the subject or add recipients directly within the link.
⇒ See the page Enabling mailto links for further details on the ‘mailto’ protocol and its support in the BlueMind mail app.

Add images

To insert an image into the email, click on or use ‘drag and drop’ by dropping the image directly into the body of the email. The image can be easily resized by clicking on it and dragging the blue corners with the mouse:

Attach an image to the email

Please note that images can also be added as attachments. For further information see the page Adding attachments.

Add tables

To insert a table, click on or copy an Excel, OpenOffice or LibreOffice table directly into the body of the email. You can then add rows and columns by clicking on the icons with a + and remove them by clicking on the icons with the x symbol:

Composer view

The width settings for the composer and the action bar will be retained and will appear exactly the same when you log back into the mail app
