Installing the Old Email Client
In BlueMind 5, only the new webmail client developed by BlueMind is installed and active by default. It is possible to install the old webmail based on Roundcube 0.8.5, and give users access to it.
Installation
So that users can access the old email client, install the dedicated package on the core server:
- Debian/Ubuntu
- Redhat/CentOS
apt install bm-webmail
yum install bm-webmail
Then restart the bm-core
service:
service bm-core restart
Warning, this feature temporarily cuts access to BlueMind and can disconnect users, who are likely to lose their work in progress. The service must therefore be restarted at a time that is not likely to have an impact on users.
Enable and disable
Access to both webmails is governed by Mail roles. Depending on the role(s) assigned, users can be given access to the old webmail, the new webmail or both, by name or by group.
To assign role(s) :
- Go to the page Directories > Directory entries
- Select the desired user or group
- Assign the "Access to classic webmail" role(s) available in the "Mail" section of the roles:
- Save
By activating only one of the roles, the administrator forces the use of one of the email clients. When activating both roles, the administrator leaves the user choice. When you enable both, users will have a new button in their interface where they can switch from one to the other:
Users can also toggle from the Settings menu, under Mail :
Disabled by administrator
In case a problem is encountered by the user who can no longer switch between clients, the administrator can, as with forcing, disable one or the other of the roles according to the need: the user will then be automatically redirected to the only client they have access to.
