Installing the Old Email Client
In BlueMind 5, only the new webmail client developed by BlueMind is installed and active by default. It is possible to install the old webmail based on Roundcube 0.8.5, and give users access to it.
In BlueMind 5.1, the old webmail will no longer be installable. This process is therefore only possible in 5.0 and should be reserved as part of the change management to be organized as soon as possible.
Installation
So that users can access the old email client, install the dedicated package on the core server:
- Debian/Ubuntu
- Redhat/CentOS
apt install bm-webmail
yum install bm-webmail
Then restart the bm-core
service:
service bm-core restart
Warning, this feature temporarily cuts access to BlueMind and can disconnect users, who are likely to lose their work in progress. The service must therefore be restarted at a time that is not likely to have an impact on users.
Enable and disable
Access to both webmails is provided by directors, so it is possible to give access to the old webmail, to the new or to both users in a nominative way or in groups.
To find out more about managing these rights, go to the pages about Users and Groups :
- By activating only one of the roles, the administrator forces the use of one of the email clients.
- When activating both roles, the administrator leaves the user choice.
In the latter case, the user will have in their interface a button allowing them to switch between clients:
The user also has the possibility to switch from the management of his settings, Messaging section:
💡 Disabled by administrator
In case a problem is encountered by the user who can no longer switch between clients, the administrator can, as with forcing, disable one or the other of the roles according to the need: the user will then be automatically redirected to the only client they have access to.
