Activating mailto links

A mailto link is a link added to an e-mail address. Clicking on the link opens a new message in the user's e-mail application, with certain fields pre-filled.

For example:

  • the link mailto:exemple@nomdedomaine.com opens a new message with a pre-filled "To" field
  • the link mailto:exemple@nomdedomaine.com?subject=Hello opens a new message with pre-filled "To" and "Subject" fields. Consult the mailto syntax for more details

BlueMind Mail app allows you to create mailto links in messages and can be used to send a message from any browser page.

Activating option

To activate mailto links, go to mail settings Preferences > Mail > General > Email Links and click on the link to activate the option.

Then allow the use of BlueMind messaging in the browser preferences used:

→ Firefox

Allow mailto links by clicking "Add application" in the banner that appears. Then, after clicking on a mailto link, choose the BlueMind application to open it. By checking "Always use this application to open mailto links", BlueMind becomes the default e-mail application

→ Chrome

Authorize mailto links in the popup window, then click on in the BlueMind address bar and select 'Authorize':

If the icon doesn't appear in the address bar, follow the procedure "Open Chrome links in Gmail", replacing Gmail with BlueMind mailbox :

  • go to the Chrome menu on the right of the address bar and open Settings
  • go to Privacy & Security -> Site settings -> expand Additional permissions -> Protocol managers
  • check the option "Sites can ask to handle protocols" and verify that BlueMind is in the list of "email" sites
  • return to the BlueMind mail tab, in the address bar click on then choose 'Allow'

→ Safari

Safari does not support mailto link management
