Release Notes 5.4
In accordance with our release lifecycle policy, the end of support dates for BlueMind 5.4 are :
- patch support: 03/13/2026
- security support: 09/11/2026
For upgrades from BlueMind version 4, see BlueMind major version update.
Multi-factor authentication
To further enhance user security, BlueMind 5.4 features multifactor authentication, which can be activated on a per-user basis. In this case, the user is asked to enter a one-time code, generated by a secure application, in addition to their password.
For further information, see:
- Administrators: Multi-factor authentication via OTP
- Users: Secure connection with OTP
New thick client
BlueMind 5.4 provides users with Windows client workstations with the beta version of its new client software, enabling them to use BlueMind applications independently of their browser:
This new means of access offers many advantages:
- It is browser-independent, allowing the user to free himself from the global rules/constraints imposed on the browser by an organization (type and version, policy on local browser data, etc.).
- It offers direct access to the Windows certificate store for S/MIME.
- It is managed as an application (icon to identify it, shortcut on the desktop or in the Start menu, automatic launch, etc.).
- Software upgrades are independent of BlueMind server upgrades**: the software benefits from additional improvements and patches, and can (and should) be upgraded frequently.
- It offers better system built-in.
For further information, see Configuring and using the BlueMind client.
Webmail: new composer features
When composing an email, it is now possible to delete or duplicate text formatting. It's also possible to add emoticons 🎉
For further information, see the page Editing message contents
Calendar: event history
Following feedback from customers/users, the calendar history has been reintroduced: users can once again view their event creations and upgrades.
For further information, see Editing a calendar event.
Alfresco support
After Nextcloud, BlueMind now offers the option of connecting mail to Alfresco, an open source document and content management (EDM - ECM) solution that can be built-in to certain collaborative platforms, such as GoFast.
Users can use their usual workspace to manage the files they send via their BlueMind mail, and benefit from the advantages offered by their in-house solution:
- BlueMind's attachment functionality allows users to browse their Alfresco space,
- sending large files by e-mail automatically stores the files in Alfresco and adds the download link to the e-mail,
- detaching email attachments deposits files in the user's Alfresco space.
